It actually happened on July 12th. A weibo user posted a picture of the snow in Beijing. This has attracted numerous comments from netizens. The web post says, "We are all fired up! I can't believe my eyes. The snow lasted for about 3 minutes. It was really snowing!" In traditional Chinese culture, snow in summer represents big grievances. Weibo users discussed about this concern. Netizen Fantast says, "Believe it or not, just take a look of the pictures. Snow in July, what grievances are there?" White Feather Wings says, "Snow in summer again. There were so many grieving souls in China in recent years. And they all went to Beijing to redress the grievance." The July snow is not the only strange occurrence happening in China during those couple of days. On July 13th, a famous big bell named, "Safety Bell," in Chengdu in China's southwest Sichuan province fell to the ground—shocking everyone. | Hawker Beechcraft's Proposed Acquisition Sparks Controversy Posted: 20 Jul 2012 01:39 PM PDT | Is China buying a US aircraft maker? Superior Aviation Beijing is looking to acquire the US-based Hawker Beechcraft. And it's raising concerns because not only does Hawker Beechcraft make private aircrafts, it has a military division. And the Beijing municipality owns 40% of Superior Aviation. Hawker Beechcraft is looking to sell fast. In May it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. And it says it won't be selling its military division--only its nonmilitary equipment--in the $1.8 billion deal. It raises the possibility of moving thousands of jobs to China, and whether China's market can sustain a company like Hawker Beechcraft selling only its private aircraft. The proposed deal still needs to be approved by the US Committee on Foreign Investment. | Hong Kong Council Member Denounces Beijing Posted: 20 Jul 2012 01:34 PM PDT | It's a stunning political move -- a Hong Kong Council Member, technically a subject of the People's Republic of China, is calling on Taiwanese president Ma Ying-jeou to oppose the mainland Chinese regime. The Chinese regime has long threatened to take control of Taiwan with military force. But Hong Kong Council Member Albert Chan Wai Yip is throwing his weight behind Taiwan. And he's doing it over the most politically sensitive issue there is in China -- Falun Gong. Back in June, Chung Ting-pang, a Taiwanese citizen was detained by Chinese authorities after visiting relatives in Jiangxi. Chung is a practitioner of Falun Gong, a spiritual practice persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party. He was detained for what authorities claimed were crimes against the state, though no evidence has been presented. NTD contacted Albert Chan Wai Yip, who spoke out harshly against the Chinese regime. [Albert Chan Wai Yip, Hong Kong Council Member]: "Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou and all relevant departments should use any occasion to express their anger (on Chung's case). They shouldn't allow their own citizen to be detained or arrested at will in other countries. I want the representative of the local government to raise objections, in order to protect their own citizens' rights." Since 1999, the Chinese regime has brutally persecuted Falun Gong adherents. They've been subjected to forced labor, lengthy imprisonment, torture and rape, as well as an alleged program of forced organ ... | Views: 2 0 ratings | | Time: 02:40 | More in Pets & Animals |

| 18-Year-Old Tibetan Monk Self Immolates; Mounting Calls for Tibetan Freedom Posted: 20 Jul 2012 01:30 PM PDT | Another Tibetan monk self-immolated on Tuesday at one of Eastern Tibet's largest monasteries. According to the group Free Tibet, eighteen-year-old Lobsang Lobzin's body will be cremated on Tuesday evening at the Kirti Monastery, where the young monk lived. A representative from the monastery, Kanyag Tsering, says the timing is driven by fears of reaction from the Chinese officials. Kanyag Tsering, a representative from Kirti Moastery was quoted saying, (quote) "The unusual thing is that they are preparing to cremate his body tonight. According to Tibetan custom, they would usually keep the body for a few days and cremate it on an appropriate day. But since they are cremating it tonight, it shows that the monks fear that Chinese officials will take away his body." And now calls are mounting for Beijing to, quote, "let Tibetans decide their own future." Voice of America reports that Tibetans blocked a bridge to stop police from getting to the monastery. Free Tibet reports that more than 40 monks have self-immolated since 2009, protesting what they say is Chinese Communist Party repression in Tibet. An influx of members of the Han Chinese ethnic group has allegedly diluted the Tibetan bloodline and led to the destruction of traditional Tibetan culture and religion. | Panda Cub Searches For Mommy Posted: 20 Jul 2012 12:42 AM PDT | This is an amazingly rare footage—a panda cub alone in the wild. Researchers only had a moment to capture this footage, before the panda ran off into the mountain forests, perhaps searching for its mother. The cub was seen in the Wolong National Nature Reserve, in southwest Sichuan Province. This is where a panda census is currently being conducted. Researchers are trying to find out if efforts to bring back the endangered species are working. The panda cub sighting is a good indication that it is. Plans are also underway in the Wolong Hetaoping Wild Training Base—to train and release two to three grown pandas back into the wild by 2014. The semi wild training area has been designed to be as close as possible to the natural habitat. This way the pandas will have an easier time adapting to the wild.
