Stray Baby Wallaby Rescued From High-Rise Car Park Posted: 22 Feb 2013 12:01 PM PST | A stray baby wallaby is rescued after sitting precariously on the ledge of a high-rise shopping center car park for nearly two hours in suburban Melbourne, Australia. Full Story: On Thursday, a stray baby wallaby was rescued from a shopping center car park in Melbourne, Australia. The forest-dwelling animal was found sitting precariously on the ledge of a four-story car park. Wildlife officers watched anxiously as the frightened wallaby spent nearly two hours on a ledge before finally hopping into the parking lot. It was then tranquilized and taken away. [Manfred Zabinskas, Animal Rescuer]: "When they are really scared, they will just react to get away from the danger and not realize they're putting themselves into even greater risk. So, the risks are very high. This guy could've easily died today." Local media said the the wallaby most likely made its way to the car park from nearby bushland. The stray wallaby will spend around two days in the care of rescuers before it is returned to the wild. 'Vulcan' Leads Pluto Moon Vote Posted: 22 Feb 2013 06:50 AM PST | 'Vulcan' has big lead in bid to name Pluto's newly discovered moons. Full story: Star Trek fans are boldly leading a charge to name one of Pluto's newly discovered moons 'Vulcan'. In the TV series and films, Vulcan is the name of Spock's home planet. So far it's the main contender out of 21 names, taking more than 100000 of some 330000 votes cast for the online poll. [ Emily Harvill, 12-Year-Old]: "I think that would be pretty cool because it's in space and Star Trek is a good movie, so yeah." [Dale Ducharme, Sixteen Year-Old]: "That would be pretty cool. I think it would be great also because kids in school they have all these names that don't really mean a lot to them whereas this way it may be a lot easier for them to memorise it and learn it and stuff, you know. It's a lot easier to learn because, you know, 'hey, that's on Star Trek.' or 'hey, that sounds pretty cool, like a weird name.' so it would kind of stick out to them." Star Trek actor William Shatner, who portrayed the Enterprise's captain James T. Kirk, proposed it. He's been rallying support on Twitter. The poll is being run by the Seti Institute in California, whose astronomers discovered the two 20-30km wide moons. Until now, they've been known as P4 and P5. Voting to make it so ends on February 25th. The selected names will then be submitted to the International Astronomical Union (IAU) for consideration. Analysts comments that Wang Lijun has many inside stories about the British businessman Neil Heywood. His rejection by the British Consulate shows their intentions to keep that separate from Heywood's case. On February 19th the British Daily Telegraph reported that the book will be published in April. It says that in November 2011, soon after Heywood's body was found in a hotel room of Chongqing, Wang Lijun dressed himself up as "an older man" and quietly entered the British Consulate-General building. The book quoted an insider of Chongqing officialdom. He said "Wang Lijun brought the documents related to Heywood and asked whether he can achieve a political asylum. But the officials in the consulate didn't take care of him." Hua Po, a Beijing political observer pointed out that Wang Lijun was a honest assistant of the former Chongqing Secretary Bo Xilai. He began to do lots of bad things for Bo. Other countries should like to avoid him. Hua Po, Beijing political commentator: "If a country gives Wang Lijun political asylum, it will endure big pressure.
