101 YO Marathoner quits - Media Watch - February 26,2013 - BONTV China

Go to www.bon.tv to watch the full episode The world's oldest marathon runner ran his last race yesterday at the age of 101. Fauja Singh finished the Hong Kong marathon's 10-kilometer race in a time of 1 hour, 32 minutes and 28 seconds. Singh, a Sikh, wore a saffron turban and sported a flowing white beard. As he followed the route along the northern lip of Hong Kong island, he was accompanied by a group from the city's local Sikh community, joining about 72000 other runners taking part in the marathon. The Indian-born runner, nicknamed the Turbaned Torpedo, said earlier that he would hang up his sneakers after the race in the southern Chinese city, just before his 102nd birthday. Singh, a great-grandfather, became the oldest man to run a full marathon at Toronto in 2011, at the age of 100. But his record was not recognized by Guinness World Records because he doesn't have a birth certificate to prove his age. Singh took up running at the age of 89 as a way to get over depression after his wife and son died in quick succession. Singh, whose five other children had emigrated, was left all alone. He went to live with his youngest son in London. One day Singh saw a marathon on television for the first time and decided that's what he wanted to do too. In 2000, he ran the London marathon, his first, and went on to do eight more. His best time was 5 hours and 40 minutes in Toronto in 2003. Good for him.

The new regulation lowers the maximum price permitted for official government vehicle purchases from 250, 000 Yuan ($40, 000) to 180, 000 Yuan ($ 29000). In early 2012, the government released a list of auto brands qualified for these purchases. Porn video show on LED screen - China Take - February 26,2013 - BONTV China

Posted: 26 Feb 2013 06:50 PM PST

Go to bon.tv to watch the full episode Red faces all around in the city of Zhongshan in Guangdong province this week. First those of embarrassed shoppers when a giant LED screen above a KFC in busy Fuye Square suddenly switched from showing the usual fare of commercials and promos to a rather explicit pornographic movie. Second, those of slow reacting local officials -- because this was no five second technical glitch -- in fact for a full TWENTY minutes the unsuspecting citizens of Zhongshan were treated to the sort of scenes more commonly found in bachelor parties and spam boxes. And the reddest face of all -- well that no doubt belonged to the city worker responsible for the impromptu public sex ed class. In response to complaints from horrified passerby the public security bureau explained that the cause of the gaffe was a computer "error" by an employee in the control center for city's LED screens. He or she - but let's guess he -- will presumably be a little more careful about what websites he surfs at work.
