Prisoner's Death Stokes Fears of Third Palestinian Revolt Posted: 25 Feb 2013 10:31 PM PST | The mysterious death in Israeli custody of Palestinian Arafat Jaradat have sparked clashes in the West Bank and stoke fears of a third Palestinian uprising. Full story: The mysterious death in Israeli custody of a Palestinian father of two sparked clashes in the West Bank on Sunday. And Palestinian rage over 30-year-old Arafat Jaradat's death is now stoking fears of a third Palestinian uprising. The inconclusive autopsy findings have so far only fanned the flames of Palestinian discontent. The Israeli Health Ministry says it's too early to determine the cause of death. But a Palestinian pathologist present at the autopsy says that there were signs of violence on Jaradat's body, such as bruising on his chest, back and neck, and two broken ribs. Israel maintains the injuries could be from attempts to revive the man. Jaradat, arrested on February 18th in Hebron for throwing stones at Israeli soldiers, died in custody last Saturday. Israeli pathologists admit that two of Jaradat's ribs were found broken. But they claim this was caused by efforts to resuscitate the prisoner after he had been found dead, apparently due to cardiac arrest. The Palestinian Minister of Prisoners' Affairs blames Israel for Jaradat's death. [Issa Qaraqe, Palestinian Minister of Prisoners Affairs] "The prisoner was in the hands of the Israeli Shabak (Israeli Security Agency) and detained at an Israeli Shabak prison, so Israel is responsible to what has happened to this prisoner". Analysis of Lien's Visit To China Posted: 25 Feb 2013 07:43 PM PST | Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com On February 25, Xi Jinping met with Lien Chan, Honorary Chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT) in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. On February 26, Lien Chan will meet outgoing Chairman Hu Jintao. The timing of Lien's visit is sensitive, as it is just before the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) two annual meetings. What information can be exposed from Lien's visit? Let's take a look. Radio France Internationale cited sources. They stated that when Xi invited Lien to visit, it wasn't through the official channels of the KMT, or the CCP. In addition, Lien was able to choose the Taiwan delegation, which shows respect towards Lien. The Taiwan delegation includes more than 40 politicians, religion leaders and business executives. What are the reasons behind Xi's invitation at a time so close to the CCP's two annual meetings? Tang Baiqiao, current affairs commentator: "Xi is more high profile in his political actions than Hu Jintao. Xi wants to pass a message to the world before and during the CCP annual meetings. The message is especially for the Chinese people around the world, in that he is capable of building a harmonious society, and deepening mutual interaction across the Straits. Also, that he is capable of forming a good situation; of developing multi parties and to discuss the country's affairs together. Obviously, Xi has this intention." The CCP has denied the allegations, while introducing several policies to manage human organ donation. A few days ago, China's Ministry of Health declared that it would set up a nationwide information network for organ donation and allocation within the year. "Manage state affairs, politics and administration by rule of law." Commentators say that Xi Jinping faces strong opposition in implementing "rule of law." What or who is this opposition? We investigate. According to the CCP controlled Xinhua News Agency, Xi Jinping has stressed rule by law and constitution. This was during a meeting of the CCP Political Bureau of Central Committee on February 23. He has required the formation of a legal environment, and that laws be strictly enforced, with violators being prosecuted. In discussing selection of officials, Xi Jinping said, "Government departments at all levels should consider an official's ability to rule by law, during his evaluation. Xi also emphasized that as the ruling party, the CCP should adhere to "rule by law". This is important for the legal administration of the country. Political commentator Lin Zixu believes that rule of law first requires independent legislative and law enforcement agencies. When the CCP claims to implement rule of law, its only under the guidance of CCP 18th Assembly. It is also under the guiding ideology of "Deng, Jiang & Hu," which only ends up being a joke. Lin Zixu questions whether there can be rule of law under a single Party system?
