Son of Chinese PLA singer arrested for gang rape Posted: 22 Feb 2013 05:09 PM PST Beijing, China – 17-year-old Li Tianyi, the son of general Li Shuangjiang, was arrested in relation to a gang rape case. Xinhua News then reported that Haidian Police arrested 5 suspects of a rape case, including Li, on February 20. The female victim was taken to a hotel nearby and raped by the gang after drinking in the bar. The details of the case remained confidential while the police said one of the suspect was Li's cellmate in prison in 2011. All 5 suspects are now under criminal detention. The news was first disclosed on Weibo by an editor of South China Morning Post on February 22. He said, "A young man named 'Li Guanfeng' was arrested under suspicion of gang rape, but he was still recognized: Li Tianyi, the son of Li Shuangjiang." Li Tianyi, born in April 1996, was the son of both renowned singer Li Shuangjiang and Meng Ge. Li's name was soon spread on internet as he was known by his reckless driving at age 15. In September 2011, Li was driving a BMW without proper license and beat a couple after got in an accident with them. He was sent to rehabilitation for a year after a settlement made with the victims. Li was release in September 2012. General Li Shuangjiang, father of Li Tianyi, was a popular singer among the Chinese. Li was born in 1939 and started his military career in 1963. He is also a professional actor and a professor at PLA Art Academy. FMN |
