Spain has won the first semi-final of the Euro 2012 on penalties after the match ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Real Madrid's midfield maestro Xabi Alonso missed the first penalty for Spain. The Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas then pulled off a confident save to keep the scores even. Iniesta scored Spains second attempt to put his side ahead.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland. In the run up to the July 1st anniversary, an exhibition named "Towards a Better Tomorrow" has been launched in Beijing to celebrate the event. Vice President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony and toured the exhibition. Before the opening ceremony, Vice President Xi met Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang. Xi applauded Hong Kong's achievements over the past 15 years, and praised Tsang's 7 years as the region's chief. Xi said the central government will support incoming chief Leung Chun-ying, and the HK local government, to push forward the city's development based on the rule of law. Xi also praised the exhibition, saying it directly shows the mainland and the SAR's cooperative development and achievements. Xi added that it's conducive to foster peoples confidence on the one country, two systems, and to enhance confidence of co-development of Hong Kong and the mainland.
Tsang said with the strong support of the Central Government and the people of the motherland, and the determination and perseverance of Hong Kong people, the city has overcome challenges in finance, public health and many other areas. The exhibition is held at the National Museum of China in Beijing from June 27 to July 9. The exhibition comprises five sections, namely Road to Reunification and "One country,Two Systems", Mutually Beneficial Co-operation Between Hong Kong and the Mainland, Reminiscences of the Old Days, Hong Kong --Asia's World City, and Towards a better Future. The exhibition showcases Hong Kong's exciting city landscape, and its future development plans.

The landing zone for the orbiting Shenzhou-9 spacecraft has gone into operation. Personnel and equipment that are responsible for retrieval search and rescue missions have arrived at the area in Siziwang Banner in Inner Mongolia. The weather at the zone is forecast to be sunny on Friday when the capsule returns. The three astronauts on board conducted China's first manual space docking procedure on Sunday with the Tiangong-1 lab module. The landing zone has been used for all previous Shenzhou space missions. | ||
