| Hebei Released Delegation List, Zhou Yongkang Not On It Posted: 19 May 2012 12:03 AM PDT | Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com After the investigations of Wang Lijun and Bo Xilai, rumors about Zhou Yongkang, the leader of Political and Judiciary Committee, continually spread. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) mouthpiece reported on May 17 that Zhou Yongkang was going about his daily life. At the same time, Hebei province released the delegation list for the 18th National Congress Conference, and Zhou Yongkang wasn't on the list. This list drew attention immediately after its release, and outsiders speculate that this absence signals Zhou Yongkang's fall from grace. The Hebei Daily released the list of the Hebei delegations' 62 representatives slated to attend the 18th National Congress Conference. Zhou Yongkang isn't on that list. Is Zhou Yongkang at his end? Zhou Yongkang was one of the 61 representatives of the Hebei delegation during the 17th Conference. By convention, officials rarely change their represented province unless they are moved to another position. Therefore, Zhou Yongkang would have attended the 18th Conference as a representative of Hebei province. The CCP mouthpiece Xinhua News Agency reported on May 17 however, that Zhou Yongkang's political work arrangement is as usual. Wu Jianguo, an internet writer: "I think this reflects two things. The first is that it's not an easy thing for Hu-Wen to move Zhou Yongkang out because Zhou represents Jiang Zemin. The police stopped the lawyer that Chen Kegui's family had chosen. Chen Guangcheng is still in Beijing's Chaoyang Hospital. When he heard the news, he said that Yinan police's arrangement is a scam. Chen said that in the past, authorities prevented lawyers from seeing him and forcibly assigned him lawyers. He strongly opposed to no avail. Finally authorities forcibly opened the hearing with a defense lawyer he didn't recognize. The official appointed lawyer would not object in court. Chen Guangcheng believes the authorities arranged the trial and sentence themselves. The so-called official appointed lawyer is purely a scam. He believes that Chen Kegui's experience is the same as his. According to Voice of America, the Yinan police claim that Chen Kegui was appointed two lawyers by Yinan Legal Aid Center is false. Director Yin of the Aid Center confirmed with VOA that they did not have any lawyers involved in Chen Kegui's case. They are unaware of the case. In order to reduce the costs of 'maintaining stability', the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) may release the "Wukan mode" in its 18th session. However, with the unchanged CCP dictatorship and guidance by it's philosophy of struggle, can the "Wukan mode" really address the problems in China? Some experts believe that from the personnel changes of Guangdong publicity department, people can see that outspoken media ultimately remain subject to the CCP. Only with the end of CCP rule can political reform be carried out smoothly. Recently, a political expert who is personally involved in a number of preparatory works for the CCP 18th session disclosed information in overseas media. The CCP will conduct some changes to it's method of maintaining stability. The so-called political reform measures raised by Guangdong Province may be promoted to the whole country. After the end of the CCP Two Sessions in 2012, the actions and speeches of Wang Yang, CCP secretary of Guangdong Province, were very close to the tone of CCP central government. These include the release of Registrar of Societies management, the requirement of officials to abandon the mentality that people's happiness comes from party-state's gifts. In addition, the candidate election for the Provincial Standing Committee members, and the recent open policy of ... | Views: 11 0 ratings | | Time: 04:36 | More in News & Politics |

| 3 Chinese Fishing Boats Held Hostage by North Korea Posted: 18 May 2012 11:47 PM PDT | Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com On May 8, three Chinese fishing boats were held hostage by a North Korean gunboat. This event drew lots of media attention after it was exposed on May 16. The North Korean regime held 29 Chinese fishermen hostage and demanded a ransom of 900000 yuan (USD ~142000). North Korea threatened to "finish off" the boats and fishermen if the ransom is not paid. This act destroys the myth that "Friendship between China-North Korea" is "formed by blood." Commentators pointed out, the so called friendship is only an interest exchange. On May 8, over 30 fishing boats were fishing in the Yellow Sea, around coordinates 123° 57' East, 38° 05' North. Three fishing boats and 29 crew members were detained. The Chinese regime expressed that the fishing areas used are within Chinese territory. On May 9, the owner of the kidnapped fishing boats Zhang Dechang received a message from the captain expressing that the boat was detained and taken to North Korean waters. The kidnappers asked for 400000 yuan per ship as ransom, a total of 1.2 million yuan. On May 15, Zhang received a phone call which threatened to "finish off" the crew and the boats if the ransom was not paid within two days. The fishermen saw people speaking Chinese on the North Korean gunboat and the ransom exchange was arranged in Dandong City, China. Some have suggested that this might be illegal collusion between Chinese gangs and the North Korean military ... | Views: 29 1 ratings | | Time: 04:00 | More in News & Politics |
