Go to www.bon.tv to watch the full episode Follow us on Weibo weibo.com In Consumer Corner, we take a look at trends and products creating a buzz here in China. Well, I'm sure we've all heard of stamp, sticker, and coin collecting, but have you ever heard of people collecting tea? Because that's exactly what some tea enthusiasts have been doing for years -- except, unlike collectors of the aforementioned categories who may be doing it for pure hobby, tea collectors are doing it for investment. According to website China Economic Net, pu'er tea has one of the largest appreciation potentials as an investment. It is estimated there are more than 200 thousand pu'er tea collectors in China's southeast Pearl River Delta region. But unfortunately for students hoping to have an internship at one Standard Chartered Bank branch in Guangzhou. In other words, the students' parents must have at least 80-thousand US dollars deposited with the bank. For students like Wu Xiao's girlfriend, this means she has to look elsewhere. This inevitably hurts qualified students from non-wealthy families, making it even tougher for them to compete for the higher-paying jobs once out of college.Lawyers say the bank branch has violated its social responsibility as a well known listed company. They point to China's law, which says companies aren't allowed to force consumers to buy products in similar situations. Many believe if this case were taken to court, the law would be applied in this situation.

Posted: 21 May 2012 11:17 PM PDT

Our first story comes from Xinhua news agency which states that China`s foreign ministry spokesperson has expressed firm opposition to a pentagon report which China feels misrepresented China`s military development. The foreign ministry spokesperson Hong Lei stated in response to the US Defense Department`s annual military report on China, that China`s military developments are justified and normal and that US Criticism of Chinese military development is both unjust and irresponsible. He added that China has adhered to a strictly peaceful development path and has a defense policy which is strictly defensive in nature. That China is committed to maintaining peace, promote stability and prosperity in the Asia Pacific region as well as the world. He`s quoted as saying that so long as a country is not hostile to China, it will not worry over such developments. Now China has often stated that it`s military force is only concerned with the safeguarding of China`s independance, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and Hong, on behalf of the Chinese government demands that the united states respect facts, change its mind set and stop its wrongdoing in issuing similar reports year after year. Well, China expanding its military is no secret, and if you`re neighbour is stock piling weapons and ammunitions, no matter how much they reassure you, you cant help but feel a little bit ...
