Go to bon.tv to watch the full episode China's State news agency, Xinhua, has reported that a district official in the municipality of Chongqing has been sacked after an explicit sex video of him appeared on line. The Chongqing government has confirmed that Lei Zhengfu, Party secretary for Beibei district, is under investigation. The video was posted on Sina Weibo -- a popular microblogging platform - by a citizen journalist called Zhu Ruifeng. It has since been viewed and forwarded thousands of times. Zhu says the woman in the video was an 18-year-old mistress of the now 54-year-old official and that the video is from 2007. Lei joins a list of party officials who have been outed online for apparently unethical behavior and consequently sacked or otherwise disciplined. In September net users noticed a Shaanxi official named Yang Dacai was wearing several expensive watches in different photos which led to his sacking. Similarly net users were behind the downfall of an official in Guangzhou named Cai Bin in October, who was reported to own a string of properties - far more than he can afford on his salary. The difference on THIS latest occasion has been the speed with which Lei was removed after the scandal broke.

Unsafe chicken claims snubbed - Media Watch - November 27 - BONTV

Posted: 27 Nov 2012 11:03 PM PST

An expert on animal nutrition on Sunday dismissed a Web report that said chickens used by KFC and McDonald's "grow too fast". An economic news website, claimed that birds at Suhai Group, a large processing company in Shanxi province, grow to full size in 45 days. In the report on Friday, unnamed workers were quoted as saying they are made to feed the chickens additives and medicine that are "hazardous to humans", and said the company supplies large supermarkets as well as KFC and McDonald's. However, Hou Shuisheng, an animal nutrition professor with the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, told China Daily that such a growth rate is perfectly safe and simply the result of successful animal husbandry. White-feathered chickens, which are mostly imported from the US, account for about 50 percent of the chicken market in China, with the rest made up of domestic breeds, he said. Suhai Group on Saturday also released an online statement saying it had met standards on feed processing, chicken raising and slaughtering during random checks by authorities this year. Meanwhile, a manager at a KFC in Beijing's Chaoyang district who gave his name only as Feng said on Sunday that all of the restaurant's chicken is supplied by "qualified manufacturers in Shandong province, not Shanxi". McDonald's also said on Sina Weibo that Suhai Group is not its current supplier.

Sany lawsuit not to affect ties - Biz Wire - November 27 - BONTV

Posted: 27 Nov 2012 07:11 PM PST

Go to www.bon.tv to watch the full episode Follow us on Weibo weibo.com It's been a challenging year for Chinese business interests in the United States. The US government has blocked several Chinese companies, including Sany, Huawei and ZTE , from entering the American market this year, on national security concerns. Now, Sany - China's biggest construction machinery manufacturer - is taking legal action against US president Barack Obama. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next week. The Sany Group is trying to buy four wind farms in the northwestern US state of Oregon. The lawsuit against the presidential order blocking the purchase is the first time a Chinese company has ever tried to sue the president of another country. And few Chinese businessmen expect it to go to trial. In July, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, which is made up of 16 US government agencies, ordered Sany's affiliated company Ralls to stop construction on the wind farm project, saying it's a threat to the country's security because it is too close to a US air force base. Two months later, US president Barack Obama signed the administrative order to ask Ralls to withdraw all its investment on the wind farms. In fact, Sany's president Xiang Wenbo said last month the company already knew the project had been halted on national security grounds, but failed to sell it to a domestic US company. Analysts say the issue between Sany and the US government will not affect future ...
