Japan releases video of Chinese activists Posted: 27 Aug 2012 07:49 AM PDT Updated: 2012-08-27 21:49 ( Xinhua) TOKYO - Japan Coast Guard released a video taken on August 15 of 7 Chinese activists landing on Diaoyu Islands at Monday night. Japan Coast Guard recorded 7 hours video from helicopters and patrol vessels of the process of 7 Chinese activists landing on Diaoyu Islands. Japan Coast Guard published an edited 30-mintue-edition video, showing the police warning the activists not to land on the islands and urging them to leave. Japanese Prime Minster Yoshihiko Noda said on a press conference last Friday that the Japan Coast Guard would release the videos, as long as it does not interfere with policing. A total of 14 Chinese nationals were illegally detained by Japan after landing on the Diaoyu Islands on August 15 to claim China's sovereignty over the territory. Seven of the 14 who were released flew back to Hong Kong on August 17, while the other group of seven returned home in their fishing boat from Japan's Ishigaki Island with escort of a vessel sent by the Chinese government. As Japan decided to release 14 Chinese nationals it was detaining, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said,"China holds a clear and firm stance on the issue of Diaoyu Islands." Posted: 27 Aug 2012 07:49 AM PDT Updated: 2012-08-27 21:43 ( Xinhua) BEIJING - Three vehicles collided on a national highway in suburban Beijing, leaving four people dead and 11 others injured early Monday morning, local authorities said. The accident happened at about 4:30 am on the Beijing-Tibet Expressway, which is notorious for traffic congestions, in the Changping District, according to Beijing Traffic Management Bureau. The bureau said a truck-tractor rear-ended a van, causing it to collide with another van. Three people were immediately pronounced dead after the accident while one died in hospital after treatment failed. Local authorities said they had dispatched more traffic police to the site to direct traffic flows on the expressway. 20 victims of deadly car crash identified Posted: 27 Aug 2012 07:49 AM PDT Updated: 2012-08-27 21:07 ( Xinhua) HOHHOT - A transport company in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has published the names of 20 victims in Sunday's sleeper-tanker crash that killed 36 in Shaanxi province. The list of names, published by Hohhot Municipal Transport Group, the owner of the bus, indicates that 12 victims were from the provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Henan, as well as Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The company has asked the relatives of the passengers on the ill-fated bus to immediately contact the working group which deals with the aftermath of the accident. The double-decker sleeper bus burst into flames after rear-ending a methanol-loaded tanker in the city of Yan'an, northwest China's Shaanxi province, on Sunday morning. Three of the 39 people aboard the bus survived but all suffered injuries. The crash occurred around 2:18 am Sunday on the section of the Baotou-Maoming expressway, about 200 meters from the Huaziping service station. The 39-seat bus was on its way from Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia, to Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province. The State Council has sent an investigation team to oversee the investigation and rescue efforts.
