But Spokesman of Taiwan defense department --Luo Shao says that no such purchase was made. The Chinese Mainland had been openly against this possibility of military purchases between Taiwan and the US

PEOPLE in a number of Chinese cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shenyang, Hangzhou, Harbin and Qingdao took to the street this morning to voice their opposition to Japanese activists' landing on the Diaoyu Islands. Around 8:50 am, over 100 protestors started to gather near the Consulate-General of Japan in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, holding China's national flags and banners reading "Sworn to defend China's territory over Diaoyu Islands." They also shouted loudly "Japan gets out of the Diaoyu Islands!" In downtown Shenzhen, protestors gathered at the SEG Plaza around 9:00 am with China's national flags in their hands and shouted to defend the Chinese territory. The Japanese coast guard confirmed that nine Japanese activists landed on the Diaoyu Islands early today, Japanese media reported.

The cash income of rural households grew 14.13 percent from a year earlier to an average of 38894.4 yuan (6125 US dollars) last year, and the per capita cash income in rural areas rose 11.95 percent to 9260.6 yuan, according to a survey by Central China Normal University's Center for China Rural Studies. The survey was launched in 2009 and covered more than 6000 rural households across the country. The figures have not been adjusted to reflect inflation. Leaders put rural issues high up the agenda, where resident certificates of most people are registered in rural areas under a system that classifies 1.3 billion people into two groups, farmers and non-farmers. The institute said in a report released Tuesday that the income growth was fueled by rising wages among farmers who have abandoned rural life to work as migrant laborers outside of their hometowns, mostly in cities. Wages paid to the migrant laborers accounted for 65.7 percent of the total income of rural households, it said. China is experiencing the largest mass migration of people from the countryside to urban regions in history. Lifelike "human skin" masks have become a hot internet item in China, sparking concerns over their potential use in criminal operations, reports the Chongqing Evening News. The intricately designed silicone masks, typically seen in the make-up department of movie studios, are said to be able to drastically alter a person's appearance in a realistic manner, complete with facial lines and proper skin tones. An investigation conducted by the Chongqing Evening News revealed various online stores offering such masks through mail order services. One particular vendor offered on its website a variety of hood-type masks, half-face masks and celebrity masks, as well as masks of other random faces. The masks come in both male and female versions and an assortment of sizes, though shops also offers custom-made masks for customers seeking an ultra-realistic disguise. Different eyebrow styles and facial hair can be added at extra cost. Depending on the quality, the masks are said to cost from 500 yuan (US$79) up to 6000 yuan (US$943). A highly realistic mask seen on one popular website retailed for 3600 yuan (US$565), the Chongqing Evening News reported.
