An online post on June 20 by Shanghai No.2 Railway Company suggested that women wear more conservative clothing to prevent sexual harassment, arousing an active debate about women's rights in China, Shandong Business Daily reports. As the summer heats up and sexual harassment occurs more regularly on Shanghai's railway system, the railway company posted on its official Microblogging account a suggestion that female citizens not wear provocative clothing that would invite harassment, and a picture of a girl wearing a sexy black skirt was attached. However, many feminists are criticizing the company, and they accuse them of taking blame off of the railway and the perpetrators. They claim that fashion is a personal choice. They state that as long as there is no law to regulate clothing, no one has the right to tell others what to wear. Some other netizens support the notice posted by the railway company. They believe that decent clothing is a matter of common sense and that it is ridiculous to question this. On Sunday, two feminists wearing black scarves demonstrated at the railway with a board stating, "I can be sexy; you cannot harass".
